Emma has been working in the fashion industry for ten years. She studied fine art in Cape Town at the Michaelis School of Fine Art where she acquired an honours degree in Fine Art, majoring in photography. This background has infiltrated all her work through understanding of light and colour. She moved to London in 2006 and worked as a photographer's assistant. She was hired by ASOS.com as a freelance retoucher where her management potential was detected. She became full time and within months was promoted to Senior retoucher. After a couple years Emma was head hunted by Spring Studios where she was quickly promoted to E-commerce Manager. Her role there demanded the ability to multitask at an exceptional level. She was responsible for quality control of imagery from shoot to final product, managing a team of digital operators and retouchers, ensuring that all imagery met the exacting standards of the clients. She was able to develop the existing workflow in order to keep up with the ever-demanding needs of the clients, whilst maintaining excellent quality. Emma has the extraordinary ability to motivate a team to work to their full potential whilst keeping it light and fun, even during highly stressful periods. She decided to move away from management to pursue a more creative role to work as a Digital Technician on set and away on location for Spring Studios; as well as retouching for the Luxury E-commerce department.
She now works from home and occasionally in studio or on set as a Retoucher for print and online; and as a Digital Technician.
